“He is too strict, but he has good manners” — this is how the Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein described the house he designed exactly 100 years ago in Vienna. A man without formal architectural education, Wittgenstein was meticulous about detail — it took a full year to produce the door handles and radiators he required. In the Haus Wittgenstein itself, limited to dark polished stone and walls painted in light ochre, decoration was forbidden.

When the work was completed, the philosopher’s sister, for whom he designed the building, called it “a house of embodied logic.” In designing the Wittgenstein concrete table, we were inspired by the discipline of this architecture, where cold logic meets an exacting attention to detail.
